“The Hunchback of Notre Dame”: Production Notes
The GVPAA cast has been dancing and singing their hearts out in September. Choreographer, Gina Veith began with two major dance numbers, “Topsy Turvy” and “Rhythm of the Tambourine”. Vocal groups rehearsed Act I with music director, Krista Thomas, while vocal coach, Megan Hickey worked on individual nuances and smaller ensembles. On stage, preliminary blocking and dialogue for Act I unfolded under the careful gazes of director Heather Arters, producer Ray Crozier, and
rehearsal manager Taylor Johnston. Cara Greco, Neala Carroll, and Charity Sassi have been rehearsing with our young K-6 thespians who will perform Seussical Pre-Show. Lightbridge Academy has sponsored our t-shirts this year and owner Beatrice Minnebo joined us to help us authenticate our French accents. Dr. Shelly Purvis and the Hayes family have also been working diligently on our sponsorships. This is truly a team effort on all levels.

The Set Crew is currently transforming GVHS auditorium into the streets of Paris 1482. They are designing, painting, constructing, lifting, and hauling every Saturday. The team has paper mâchéd 10-foot bells, painted 20-foot boards to replicate stone walls, and built walkways that will represent the
innerworkings of the historic Notre Dame
Cathedral. It truly is an amazing process to
behold. Props and costumes are well under
way on preparing authentic 14th century
clothing and weaponry to augment our
performance. Huge thank you to everyone who has fed the stage and costume crew during their long work days. Keep your eyes peeled for the daily updates posted on the Garnet Valley Drama Club Facebook page and Instagram #hunchbackofGV .

ground, will Quasimodo be
able to save Esmeralda from Frollo’s lust and anger? Will she return Quasimodo’s
affection? Who is the true monster of Notre Dame?

What makes a monster and what makes a man? This is the central theme of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, a sweeping, grand-scale musical from Disney Theatrical. Based on the 1996
Disney film and Victor Hugo’s 1831 novel, The Hunchback
of Notre Dame tells the story of Quasimodo, the hunchbacked bell-ringer of Notre Dame, and his desire to one day be a part of the
outside world. When he
summons the courage to attend the Feast of Fools, he meets Esmeralda, a
compassionate gypsy who protects him from an angry mob. But at the same time, Quasimodo’s master, the
